I read the faq. I'm running about 13 minutes with DVDFab, an 18x Asus reader, and a 16x NEC writer. The HD is probably 56 or 72k dell thing.

The writer starts up at about 3.4x and steadily rises to about 7.1x by the time the movie is copied. The process takes about 7 minutes. The writer burns in 5 minutes at a steady pace of around 6x.

Is there a bottleneck here or is this a pretty good clip? Would upgrading to a faster hard drive make this procedure quicker? Which HD is reccomended?

The Hard drive is the "storage" facility on your comp
CPU is the processor which determines the "speed" of your comp.

The times you have indicated are "par for the course" so I wouldnt be too concerned.

The bigger the hard drive the more "storage" space you have, I have 2 hard drives...1@80gb and 1@ 160gb
Processor is a Dual Core Pentium 2.66

Ok. cool. so my pentium 4 3.06ghz dell is crankin it out. I figured that if my hard drive has a data transfer rate of 30+mb/s then 5mb/s is way too slow... but you're sayin that's the processor's gig... which makes sense.

    Gracias mi amigo.

I would STRONGLY suggest you edit out your last comment before one of our mods see it.
