Personaly i dont think we have many years left now when we can backup our films onto dvd blanks, i think the Major film companies will introduce an unbeatable copy protection into whatever follows dvd. Thats bad news for the people making discs and DVD burners, unemployment rises in the far East lol.Its going to go the same way a Satellite TV, unhackable and no more fun trying to beat the system . DOH

considering that there is still a heated battle for the next-gen formats (HD-DVD and Blu-Ray), DVD will still be the dominant media for at least a few more years. Think about it...when DVD came out over a decade ago, it took many years for people to finally switch to DVD as the favored format over VHS. DVD is not going to become extinct overnight just because the next-gen formats are to be released end of this year...

Im not saying DVD will disappear overnight, im saying the generation after DVD will be unhackable . The film companies have learned from whats happened to DVD and will make sure it wont happen again. This Forum will become extinct then.

you're absolutely wrong. for the ten people in the movie industry that make the encryption, there will be 500 hackers trying to crack it. when DVD's came out, the had "unbreakable" copy protection...look how long that lasted. Hackers will always find a way around encrypted material.
