How long until we see DVD +/- Rewritable Dual Layer media?

    I have many experiments I wish to perform, but I ain't spending $12 on a DVD+R_DL Disc only to turn it into a coaster...

    I get pissed when I make a 89 cent coaster... My DL burner is back in its original box until the prices come down. I just can't see there being much of a market for DL media at these prices. At least not for backing up movies. I don't want backups that cost almost, if not more than the original.

    I have not heard about any DL RW media being developed. Sounds expensive though. I guess I'll google for info on it.
