how the hell do i do this?

    \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM file is missing or corrupt and i have heard that it is possible to back up your hard drives before reinstalling windows, but how do you do this?

    go into safe mode and backup all your data, to get into safe mode , turn on the pc and constantly click f8 until u get the option to boot in all different ways, like safe mode, safe mode with networking and so on, just use the arrow key and select safe mode. it just looks like windows but u cant use sertian features.

    go into safemode and go to start - all programs - accessories - system tools - system restore. And pick a restore date when u r pc was working and it might fix your problem.
