I have books on CDs which I have to always place in my CDROM and access the data from a shortcut in the startup->all programs menu. During installation there is no option for complete installation so that I could load it all to my HDD and then access it from there. I've tried copying the entire contents of a CD to my HDD and installing it from here, however I am still asked to insert the disc after completing the installation. I would appreciate any suggestion as to how I may circumvent this problem. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the response Blue 1. I did some digging & discovered that what I really needed was a CD emulator to create a virtual CD drive. A .iso image of the actual CD was ripped to this virtual cd drive and stored as a drive letter. Using the software I opened the location of this .iso file and installed my cd, so that now the shortcut points to this virtual drive and my PC is none the wiser. You can do this with any cd or dvd once you have the appropriate emulator and HDD space. The CD emulator I used is Extra Drive Creator Pro. Sorry I cant recall where I downloaded it from since I happened unto it by chance, after doing several searches. Hope this helps someone else.
