A file that big will need a dual layer disk. They are more expensive than single layer disks.

You could split the file and burn it onto two single layer disks?

The method I use involves zipping or archiving the files into chunks so that half can be put onto one disk then the other half on another disk. You'll then need to re-combine the files and unzip them to use them at a later date.

    It doesn't really matter what format you use but .rar or .zip seem to be the most popular. If you have Winace then you need to do the following (other progs maybe slightly different but the options you'll need to select will be about the same- if you don't have a zipping prog at all then 7zip is free and quite good);

    1- 'create' new archive file
2- in the options tab, under 'volumes' specify an amount of 100MB or 200MB. This will be the chunk size that you'll make.
3- tick 'include subfolders' and make sure that you also select 'keep folder structure'
4- then run the process by clicking 'add'

It should then (take a while) to make a folder full of 100/200MB files.

You can burn half of these onto one disk - use Nero to burn a data DVD or similar. The chunks are numbered so you shouldn't have any problems just splitting the top half from the bottom.

Once you have burned your two dvds you'll have on there all the info from the original massive file. To recombine...

1-copy all the files from both disks into a folder on the hard drive
2- run winace (or whichever prog you have) and unzip them all from the folder
3- you should have the complete files back as copy of the original.

    Hope this makes sense.

This sounds very complicated, im not very good with computers.
Is there an easier way to do this?

    I have winzip.

Not that I know of. If you have a dual layer burner then you could fit it on a dual layer disk.

Right, i have extracted the files and saved them into a folder in MY DOCUMENTS.

All of the filed are there, when the time comes for it to burn it comes up with an error.

DVD-VIDEO COMPLIANCE TEST FAILED. THE RESULTING DVD MAYBE UNPLAYABLE.

Im adding the files to burn in number of order so i can fit them onto two seperate discs?

Can someone tell me what is happening wrong?

You need to burn as a data disk rather than a DVD image disk. The dvd image will not play as you have archived it into another format.

If you select half your files by number order and burn as a data disk then this should work. Then repeat for the next half of the files.

Open up Nero via the 'smartstart' option - probably in your programs list - then its the top left tab - 'data burning'

I have just done one disc, it doesnt play in the computer dvd, so will it play in a dvd player, like when i insert the disc it opens automatically as mydisc, with all the files on. Usually an dvd disc will open with powerdvd itself.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do here. I thought you wanted to back up an image? Do you want to play the image on a DVD player? Is it a film/ video?

You need to be in the DVD authoring forums really as this is not a Nero issue. Use DVD Shrink to compact the file to a single layer DVD, and remove any ads, extras etc to improve quality.

Also - piracy is frowned upon. Don't download films, buy-em.
