Here's a short guide to help those that have have suffered from ISPs capping their download speed on BT ports. Sorry there are no images and this is my first guide, hope this helps. It worked wonderfully for me and others I have passed this knowledge to.

    1) http://torrentfreak.com/static/EvID4226Patch223d-en.zip download this file. Unzip it and open the exe file inside. Command Prompt (black) will open up and you must press C (change) then enter a value between 50 and 100 no higher than 100. 80 is good. Then press ENTER and then Y, a countdown will begin and a warning box will come up. Press Cancel then OK. After countdown has finished close Command Prompt.

    2) http://www.utorrent.com/download/1.5/uTorrent-1.5-install.exe download this utorrent client. Install it and then open it. It will ask you for 2 settings -port number and your dl/upl speed. If you're on a common UK ISP it's most likely your setting should be "xx/256" and then for port number 1720. We pick port 1720 for it's VoIP use.

    3) Utorrent should be properley opened, now go to this link to optimise utorrent settings- http://ut-settings.go.pl/ .You will have to put down your download

and upload speed, for example 1MB broadband is usually 1024 download and 256 upload. Once entered the CORRECT values click on calculate and follow the optimizing settings in the BLUE BOXES.

    4) Once optimised all other settings you must go to Network settings and in the last drop down box (encryption) pick "FORCED". Encrypting is another way of keeping ahead of the ISP, some ISPs are already shaping bandwidth so that 1720 can't be used for torrents but using encryption will help too. The only downside to encrypting is that you can only download from those that have also got encrypting enabled. Apply/ OK your settings and restart your PC since you edited in DOS.

    5) Good luck with the downloads.

Please feel free to comment on this guide. I've tried to cut down on the reasoning for each action.
Once again, good luck with the downloads.
