    Hi,
Sorry if this was asked before, just cant find the answer.
I have a firewire card and Canopus ADVC100 converter and need a software for direct capture to mpeg2.
The main purpose should be capturing long vhs videos to mpeg2 or mpeg1, just dont have enough space to capture 25Mbits/s dv and then recompress to mpeg.

    Thanx in advance
    Darko

There are Lots of programs that can capture to Mpeg2 from a Firewire Card Like the MainConcept Encoder has a Mpeg2 Capture Feature that will work with your Device....You really should get an extra hard drive for Video capture because you will get much better quality Captureing to DV and then Encodeing to Mpeg2 with a Good Quality encoder than you will captureing directly to Mpeg2....
TigerDirect has 200GB Hard drives on sale for $89 right now......Cheers

PS: you will need to have a Fairly fast PC to capture to Mpeg2 at full resolution in Real time, Probably at least 2.0ghz....

Thank you Minion for the reply,

I know it is better to capture to DV and then edit and export to dvd or vcd or whatever.
Like I said, I need to directly capture to lower quality when I want to just burn vhs tape to dvd or cd without editing ...

    Best regards
