ohk...i have AT&T Yahoo DSL..but i don't want dsl..as i said..so should i just get wireless if possible? haha i'm confused sorry oh yeah i already know about routers. i think
Wait so who is your internet service provider? All you need is an ISP,Router, and Wirless device and then you just make a new wireless account through windows go to control panel - Wireless network setup Wizard.
You do realise you shouldn't cancel your current contract- ADSL and Wireless are things that go hand in hand, you need the DSL so that you can go wireless at DSL speed... Basically whatever speed ur ISP provides is what you will get through wireless, me thinks you had the wrong idea. As tocool4u said, all you need is a router, just plug that into your mains switch and phone line and your laptops LAN port, then follow the manufacturers router instructions. After it has been configured you can take the cable off your PC and use it wirelessly- the router now only needs to be powered by mains and connected to the phone line.
I set my netgear router up ages ago, but u just said that i can disconnect it form my pc now darkhadou? I can take the cable out now and it just needs to be connected to the phoneine and mains? Please clarify, i have it still connected.
Yep you can leave it connected to the mains and phone line and use that internet AS LONG AS you have some sort of wireless card/ access enabled to the PC or Laptop. edit-- Before disconnecting make sure you go into your router settings and enable wireless administration (or something like that).
Yup i have laptop and pc in the house. The laptops centrino so its built in, and i have a kind of netgear usb wireless thing that came with the router, on the pc.
