hello all. I have taken a look @ http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ & read the educated posts in this section however failed to come across a sutible answer to my query.. I have recorded my vhs content on to my XP Media Center pc. The current size of the file is 9gig (3hours). The quailty is exact to what was on the vhs. However the file type is, ''Microsoft Recorded TV Show''. I intend to burn the content onto a dvd. My questions are: 1.How do I convert the file type into better formaat, ie mpeg2? (Suggestions of any programs I could use?) 2. How do I split the content? ie the 3hour recording has 4 diffrent shows on it, I would like to spilt the 3 hour video into 4 files... I hope this makes sense. Look forward to your reponses. Hyper
Use something like Womble mpeg wizard or VideoReDo to split the file into your 4 chunks. The file is recorded in MCE's proprietary DRM format, and you'll have to do some work to get it into a "normal" mpg. Google for "DVR-MS to MPG" and see what you find.
mmm jus read about on DVR - sounds like a pain in the ****! Thanks for your input, I will let you know how I get on.
hello again, I have used both Womble mpeg wizard and VideoReDo - good programs, thanks ''rebootjim ''. Womble is overall the better program, it allows you record the final piece in a number of formats, as well as allowing you to remove unwanted content, adding / mixing content, as well adding text, music & images. However it won’t recognise the ‘windows media recorder’ format ( which I use to record from VHS ). To resolve I use videoredo to convert to mpeg. Is their a ONE program that will do all the above? As I don’t want to end up buying two programs ... Thank You
The all-in-one's can be less than stellar anyways. I don't know of one of the top of my head. Perhaps you could find a way to capture straight to mpeg and forget the MS format.
