    Hi,
I am trying to copy a DVD and after using DVD decrypter, i have a single single file for the "Main Movie" section.. I removed the 2Ch sound etc but the main movie itself is 7GB. I tried using DVDShrink but i can compress it to 58% and still have the size of 5.01GB which i cannot copy.. I searched in forum here but could not find information on splitting a large file. WIth IFOEdit, i can separate the different chapters but in this case it is just one large file.. How do i split and copy?

I think you are over complicating things. No need to use DVD Decrypter except in some cases when DVD Shrink can't rip.

With the latest version of DVD Shrink 'Open disk' (leave it on 'Full Disk'), it should rip the whole thing. Then up top hit 'Re-author'. Now just drag the main movie title 1 over to the left. Hit Compression settings and remove your audio tracks from there. If it's on automatic all should be good as long as the green bar up top is all green.

    Thanks MysticE,
I tried that too. but the problem it seems is that DVD shrink cannot shrink it much.. like in this case ,it shrunk the main movie to 58% and it still was more than 4.7 GB (i removed the other audio tracks)...

You can also split a movie using DVD Shrink in Reauthor mode. You can set the end point to whatever chapter you want, making sure it will be small enough to fit on a single disk. After Shrink has created the files for the disk, reauthor again and set the start point to the chapter after the one you selected as the last chapter of the first disk. When you're done you'll have the movie split across 2 disks.

To set the start or end chapter for the reauthored disk, click the button with 2 arrows pointing toward each other to open the Set Start/End Frames window.

Something seems odd. I took the longest DVD I got laying around, LOR Two Towers. In Shrink it shows as 7267 MB, popping it over in re-author it is compressed at 56% and shows a size of 4463. Dropping audio tracks doesn't change the size but the compression goes to 60%. Tried the same thing in Nero Recode with the exact same results and sizes. What DVD are you working on?
