Trying to use Nero to copy a Real Player file to DVD with no results had me do a search and found the answer by "hobitt112" back in august of '07. The answers gave me the way to do this except that the DVD will only play on my computer and not my DVD player. In one response I found the solution also given to this having a free file to convert the realPlayer file to a format that Nero can convert to a DVD playing file. I found this website "http://www.rm-converter.net/" but do not know which program to use. I used the original information to record the Real Player file to disk but of course this is only for use on my computer and I would like it in a format for my DVD player.

I don't know what Carroll did, but unless Nero works with some sort of Avisynth scripts,or something(most likely not), Nero does not handle RMVB. Most likely she made a data DVD, which of course will play on the PC but not on a standalone player.

Thanks for the responses. What I am doing is copying some files to DVD so my wife can view them in the living room as she does not like the computer( to sit at and view various recordings). The files that "hobbit112" was refering to in the previous conversion discussions converted a Real Player file to a format that a stand alone DVD player could recognize ( either before or after the conversion to a DVD) and these files are supposidly at "http://www.rm_converter.net/". I have gone there but cannot figure what to use (download). There is a lot of materail on this site and for one as inexperienced as myself I am lost as to what to use.

The only way you will be able to view those in your living room using your DVD player is by converting to DVD.
"hobbit112 says..." doesn't help at all. You can post a link to that post if you want.
However, I gave you the best solution in my previous post. Download Winavi or ConvertxtoDVD and if you have real Player or Real Alternative (free) installed on your PC, you will be able to convert those RM videos to DVD format.

Or buy an old XBOX :~)! That would actually be the best option, no conversion, no loss of quality!

Thanks for the help. I have downloaded the Guide and program for ConvertXtoDVD. I will try the free version first even though it has something blocking across the screen. It will take me sometime to digest the guide but if all goes well will come back on and leave a note. One last question. Using this program I will go straight from say the real player file to the finished DVD using this program and will not use Nero at all.

Yes, that is correct, you don't need nero. ConvertxtoDVD can burn to DVD.
However, even though might cost you 2-3 extra minutes, I would recommend that you save the compilation the your HDD first. Check and make sure the video/audio are all in sync and the way you want it, after the conversion. Then you can use Nero Burning Rom(not Nero Vision!!!), or ImgBurn to burn the DVD.

I am getting it to work but for some reason I cannot get all of the file to record. It says there are 15 sections on this one file I tried but it only will record the one. The quality of the burn though as it shows on my DVD player is very good, at least better than I expected but I cannot find in the guide for ConvertXtoDVD detailed settings to record the entire file. I will b gone today but try more tomorrow. Thaks for your help
