I have several movie clip collection: VOB files (mixed, NTSC and PAL format) and I wish create(author) the DVD that will play flawlessly on every DVD player. I know however, that I need author NTSC and PAL files separately (either PAL or NTSC, on separate DVDs) and dont mix them.
I have installed TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.xx, and since I am completely new to TMPGEnc DVD Author, I'm looking the detailed guide how to create DVD from VOB files in better way (include creating simple dvd menu). Can someone recommend such Guide?

Thanks a lot. What way should I use to add VOB files in 'Source setup' screen: 'Add file' or 'Add DVD video'? There is no need for demuxing VOB files into audio and video streams first? The demuxing will not improve anything in resulting DVD?

To play both PAL and NTSC formats however we need region-free DVD player which is common thing now, I think.

Not sure, not famaliar with TMPGEnc, probably MPEG for add file and vob for add dvd but just guessing. I have also never demuuxed a vob and don't see the use but just guessing again so can't help there. I only create mpg and use a wav for the audio when I encode. You can easily get a player for both Pal and NTSC but if you ever lend those DVD's, one or the other likely won't play.

Why not mix them? I do it all the time with music vids. If you are NTSC that's what your final DVD should be. Try AVStoDVD (free), use HCenc (included) and it will only re-encode the PAL content. HCenc is an excellent encoder. Give it a whirl and see if the results suit you.

I dont want do additional conversion as this will worsen quality, even the original is not too high quality. I wanted demultiplex VOBs with dgindex, but this tool is a bit complex for new users. I want try IfoEdit to create the ifo and bup files, then import the vobs with the newly created ifo and bup files into tmgenc dvd author 2.

How to create ifo and bup files from vobs use IfoEdit?

You can still use AVStoDVD, don't mix them. It will not re-encode compliant files (check the settings). You can save the output as DVD, Elementary MPEG-2 streams, or muxed MPEGs.
