I'm wondering what kind of files I should be looking for when downloading movies. I know that iso files and video_ts files contain the main menu of movies, but avi's do not. Are there any other file extensions I should know about? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Anything really. I'm referring to any file extensions that will contain all parts of a dvd (including the menus, special features etc). I have some .avi files but they just contain the main movie.
I asked because I think you have to be careful on this forum not to give the impression that you are downloading anything that violates copyright. The answer to your question is "That stuff is in VOB files" I think. Look for VOB files that by their size and filename are not part of the main video chapters of the DVD. Study DVD layout and you will see what I mean. This is better, a very good and very comprehensive explanation of what is on a DVD http://stream.uen.org/medsol/dvd/pages/dvd_format_filestructure.html Here is another http://www.doom9.org/dvd-structure.htm Just Google for e.g. "DVD structure" and you will find all you need to know.
