I have a RAZR V3 with Cingular, and just got the subsidy code from them. However, their instruction stated that with cingular sim or no sim inside I need to enter P*#32#, and press OK before I can enter the unlock code. And the P should be entered by holding the * key. I played with the phone all day, and the only way I can get a P is to enter a * first, then enter the second * and hold the key until it becomes P. There is just no way that I can enter a P without having a * in front of it. I know I can delete the first * and make the final string P*#32#, but there is no "OK" I can select. It just appeared to be weird phone number or something, and didn't prompt me to enter the unlock code. I called Cingular and the CSR don't have any idea either. (though I didn't expect they do.) Since there is no T-mobile in my area, nobody around me has a T-mobile sim that I could use to "trigger" the subsidy code (this is the only alternative in Cingular's email instruction). Could anybosy here help me out about this problem? How can I enter the subsidy code without any sim card or with Cingular sim? I will travel abroad soon and want to make sure it is unlocked before I leave the states. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    Try this:

    press Menu key
    type 073887*
    enter Security Code 000000
    press Unlock SIM
    enter code given to you

This may or may not work, if it doesn't work, you need a SIM from another carrier.

Thanks for your reply. But it didn't work either. I guess the only thing I can do is to get someone's sim card when I am out of this damn town.

I don't know where you live, but if you live near a shopping mall, one of those kiosk cell phone people will probably let you use a SIM from another carrier if you offer them $5 or buy a cheap faceplate from them.
