How to get The Sims to work on my laptop after transferring from desktop using crossover cable

Hi there.
So im having a little trouble, recently i transferred all the installation files located in C:/Program Files/Ea Games/The Sims 2 onto my laptop from my desktop computer using a crossover cable. Everything went fine except now i can't open the game. I know it's because the files aren't correctly installed onto my laptop. How do i fix this without searching my garage for the actual cd's??

you can't.. there are more parts to the game than just the files in that folder
