how to make quality better from this guide

i;ve decided to take the longer step for converting dvd to avi by follow these step: http://web.telia.com/~u31220486/dvd2avi/dvd2avi.htm

but the quality isn't satisfactory for me. where in these step can I better increase quality of the video?

 

Don't use VFAPI and don't use VDub filters. Learn to use AVISynth and learn about your codec of choice.

Fact is that any decent 1 click app would give you better quality than following that guide.

 

can you tell which one-click programs offer best quality, thanks.
