Hi! This is my situation. There are quite a few foreign television shows and movies (such as Spanish Telenovelas) that have been released on dvd BUT do not contain English subtitles. Is there any kind of program out there that can take a movie or episode of a show and actually make subtitles? I am not quite sure what an SRT file is, but I am assuming it is a text file that contains the complete dialogue of a movie or tv episode. I know that there are programs that can take a (for example) Spanish srt subtitles file and translate that into an English srt subtitle file. Then there is a way to take the srt file and hardsub it to a movie or episode. But what if the video does not have any subtitles? How can we make subtitles for a video that has no subtitles at all? If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thank you! Sincerely, Mia
I'm pretty sure the fan community does it the old fashioned way: They listen to the movie, type the text to match the speaking parts, and time it. Once you have that, it's pretty simple to make the SRT, since it's just a text file as you say. As far as I'm aware, there's no shortcuts.
