I want to burn a CD but i find my self noticing that when i burn my CD's the volume isnt as loud as it can be on my stereo system. Is there any way to raise the volume of a CD thats about to be burned?
well if you're making a copy of a CD, there's not much the computer can do. However, if you rip the CD to the computer in WAV format (to maintain quality) you could always open the files in an audio editor and increase the amplitude. (the same goes for other files like mp3s...) two free editors to try are krystal and audacity
a simple one. audiograbber push the normalize button, then select advanced, click average, in the left corner, add (to add files) and then modify it works great and fast the "peak" option is not that great so don't try it
exact audio copy (eac) also has one and eac also has a burn program to cd-r. you can can set your percentage on how high you want to normalize. the normalize in eac seems to work better than the normalize in audacity (at least on some analog stuff off of beta hifi and 7.5ips reel to reel stuff I just copied over to .wav). eac also has a nice audio editor (delete highlighted selection, fade in, fade out highlighted areas, etc) overall nice program, especially since it's free and I use it with lame for making mp3s.
