I have a dvd i made with my dvd recorder that I want to records a clip to my pc. How do I do this with just a notebook with a dvd drive and a hard drive? Is there a software that will let me play a section of the dvd while the pc records it to a wmv file? I just want to put small clips up on my son website.
I think the easiest way is to copy the entire video to your hard drive unless they are already in clips on the dvd and then cut from that.
Most software players will let you export picture(frame) while movie is on, but not motion clips. Download your DVD to HD and use DVD Shrink (free) to cut motion clips out of it.
I can see the VIDEO_TS files on the dvd in windows explorer. Can I copy those files to my hard drive for editing?
Find the DVD from DVD Shrink and import in. Than go Re author and there Start/Stop Frame icon will get you to cutting screen.
"Find the DVD from DVD Shrink and import in." Sounds easy enough, only if you know what constitutes finding 'the DVD' as these files are many. Would be helpful if someone posts which file is being recommended here. I know we could trial and error, but surely this string would be more helpful if this significant detail was afforded.
