I hooked up my mic into line-in of my soundcard and tried to record my voice, with horrible results..why? The sound was so noisy and gargled, too much background crackle and noise, although it was very quiet in the room. Of course it must be my sound card, so how can I improve the quality of my sound input, whats the best harware to get this done. I would like to add my voice prior to previously recorded lectures, I just want to add a few comments at the begining of each lecture. Help anyone? By the way it seems like my soundcard is integrated.

Your Sound Card should have a MIC in input !

I did have it in the mic input, same garbled noise distorted audio being captured.
