I don't know if you can help but, I have been fighting to install Adobe 6.0. When trying to install I get "Error 1317. “An error occurred while attempting to create the directory C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF 6.0.” Now I have followed all the recommended tasks including booting to Safe Mode and getting the permissions required etc. etc. At this point eliminating the users logon, permissions, etc. etc. entirely would be better I think. Of course I don't have a clue where to start with that. I have great security software "Bit Defender" with firewall So, I really don't see the reason for this windows security function.
Not sure on the errors, It looks like you did everything you could as far a Adobe's tech side of it. http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=332541 Last resort you can call Adobe or get in their tech chat for help. Any reason you want v.6? Adobe came out with v.8 not to long ago. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html It might help out with the install. Edit: At the control panel click on the 'User Accounts', everything there is pretty easy to follow.
This is a home Pc. All I wanted really from Adobe, was to convert Doc's or pics by using the select printer option.. The windows security crap I started when my son was exploring and I wanted to protect my Pc from him installing anything or getting online without my knowledge. I am now sorry I did. It causes more problems than it's worth, and I no longer need it.
As in.. convert to pdf format? Here's a little known fact: Adobe might be the most recognized application for working with pdf's but pdf is not a patent of Adobe[/url]! There's a host of free programs that can do all kinds of nice things with pdf's like this one or that one. A Google search can yield even more results.
Hey thanks Corypolo! "That one" cured all my problems! I tried again and again to get Adobe 6.0 to install, using every piece of advice I could find only to be dissapointed after hours of battling the Cyber Dragons! LOL
