Having just got my x-box, I stupidly rushed and softmodded my PAL 1.6 Xbox with the evox dash. I followed the instruction explicitly (from a private, reliable forum), the only mistake I made was I installed the NTSC softmod forgetting that my console is PAL..
Now, on booting up, the green X-logo comes up but before the white microsoft logo can come up, the box goes into the "service required, call customer support" screen (error 13). The HD is now locked, and I dont have the eeprom password/image or master password so I cannot unlock to re-do the softmod install..

Is there any way to save my x-box beyond cranking out the eeprom-chip and using another x-box ? Can I maybe get to the white microsoft logo by bying an original game, and then redo the softmod ? Will installing a mod-chip help ? If so, which one is recommended ?

    Any help is appreciated!

Do you know anyone with a multi-system TV or VCR there? because you could hook your Xbox up to one then use the app Enigmah switch to change your Xbox back so that it will again boot in PAL mode.

Thank for the reply, but I already solved the problem by piecing together info from several sites =) It seems hotswap is possible even when the white microsoft logo doesn't come up. You just have to pull out the IDE cable JUST before the error screen comes up. It seems many people don't know this and have given up on fixing their boxes because of this :(

Anways, for ppl with the same problem (Softmod f00ks up your box, and you end up with an error screen): first hotswap the hard-drive pulling the cable out at the exact moment I described, then load xboxhd. Reformat your C: drive then restore C: from a CD backup, for this I recommend Shademand's Ready Made Xbox SoftMod, it's the only one that worked for me and did NOT require ANY extra hardware/software to get it to work, just what came outta the Xbox boX =) Guides for xboxhd, hotswapping and soft-modding be found on this forum, but they all do it the hard way. This way is EASY, and works! =)
