I use EAC with the LAME dll to rip from CDs to MP3s, but I have a batch of wave files on my hard drive that I want to convert to MP3s. What is the best way to achieve this? I want the same quality and quality assurance that I have with EAC. any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
1. If they're on HDD there's no need for something like EAC's secure extraction - given your system is stable. Just encode with lame.exe from commandline like this: lame.exe --alt-preset standard infile.wav outifle.mp3 - or use some frontend like RazorLame (-> afterdawn software section) or EAC's "Compress WAVs... 2. I hope you didn't get those files by decompressing some lossy audio (WMA, Real ...). Lossy -> WAV -> Lossy is called transcoding and spoils quality 3. If you're as concerned about quality as it seems and portable / standalone playback is not an issue you should consider using MusePack instead of lame/mp3.
