    Hello all,

I'm quit new in DVD-rip-land BUT I already tried a lot ... but somehow I cannot get the result I want.
    It's (IMHO) a simple thing:

    - I live in Holland, so I would like to create a
DVD-copy with English-audio, and Dutch subtitles,
    I don't need French, German, Borg ;-)
audio+subtitles etc. I also do not need menu's:
I would like to insert the DVD and play the damn
    thing (I also don't need scene-selections ..)

    - so: I want to rip the DVD to harddisk, SKIPPING the
    trailers, the FBI-messages ;-), the subtitles I
don't need, the audio I don't need, the interviews.

And: I would like to 'set' the Dutch subtitle as
the default, so when I insert the DVD in a
DVD-player, it should start directly with Dutch
    subtitles.

    - after this, I would like to burn the DVD to a
    DVD+RW disk

I'm tried using SmartRipper or DVD-decrypter with Nero VisonExpress, DUP_DVD (and lots of others)
... but somehow I cannot do the trick.

Isn't this possible????? Am I asking too much here???

    Any help is much appreciated.

DVD Shrink 3.1.2 and Nero 6 is the answer to what you ask. Shrink allows you to select audio, subtitle and edit beginning and end points of the Main Movie in Reauthor mode. If you select 'burn with Nero' in Preferences it will burn it for you automatically.

Good luck - PM me if you need Nero 6.

Thanks, this works, except for one thing: set the Dutch-subtitles as the default. When I insert the DVD
it has English audio, but no subtitles.
I have to press a button on my rc to make it work ...
which is off course not a big problem but I would like to see if I can make this work too.

    Any ideas?

BTW: I do use the full Nero-product ...

    Hiya rrommel,

you have managed to get pretty far down the road to what you want.

But you have hit a slight and niggling problem.

Do not fear, the good doctor has the cure for you:

WARNING: this will look complicated and the technique behind it is complicated, but no worries, it is simple really

You will need IFOEdit 0.95, get it from:
    http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/

    Follow these instructions:
    1 - run IFOEdit
    2 - click Open
3 - browse to the dir your film is in
    4 - select VTS_01_0.IFO
5 - in the TOP PANE, highlight VTS_PGCITI and expand it
    6 - select VTS_PGC_1
7 - in the BOTTOM PANE, look for the first entry that says "PGC Command Table:" OR "There is no PGC Command Table"
8 - if "There is no PGC Command Table", then highlight that line, right-click -> add precommand
    9 - highlight "1.Pre Command", right-click -> Edit command
10 - in the change command box use the dropdown and select "(SetSTN) Set Subpicture Stream Nr", set the stream number to 1
11 - click Save, all done..

    Test the film...

This has inserted the command to show the subpicture stream by default.

    Have Fun....

ddlooping, d/led it, there isn't any readme attacthed, so i thought maybe they were having me on, so i checked the about.. and sure enough it' the .4 release.

So a question to you ddlooping, oh master of all that is shrink related, what's new?
And more importantly, why the use with caution, is it just the ubiquitous warning for all betas?

    Cheers,
    Bailey

pbailey, the v3.1.4b releases are just attempts at fixing the preview issues some users still have.
v3.1.4b1 adds a new video renderer option that should fix all preview problems.
If v3.1.3 works for you there's no need to update. :)

"is it just the ubiquitous warning for all betas?"

    Yes it is. ;)

I think DVD Fab will do what you want. rip the movie first with Decrypter, then use Fab to tell it what language you want to keep, and which you want it to default to when you start it up.
