How do I go about getting a transcript of the subtitles from an avi (divx or xvid) into a text file? I'm combining the subtitles from avi files with the DVDs that don't have those languages on the original disk. Right now it is labour intensive, too labour intensive. The avi is watched, and as each subtitle appears, it is manually typed into a text file. That text is then fixed up, then timed, and put into a subbing program. That subbing program plays the new language subtitles over the original dvd. Pretty involved huh? There has got to be a better way. If you know of any programs that can simplify this please let me know. I've been looking for something that can make that process easier, with no luck... until today. On this wonderful site I found a link to SubRip and even a guide to use it! Only problem is that it requires the files to be vob's to start with. I don't have vob's, I have avi's. If I had the vob's they wouldn't have any subtitles to be ripped... that's what I'm adding. Is there another program that can rip subs from avi's? Is there a way I can turn the avi's into something SubRip can use- like a vob? If so, what is the best way to do so? Since I only want the subtitles I don't care about the audio at all. Since I only want the text, I don't care about the quality of the video, as long as the text is captured, it is good enough. As a means to an end, I guess I want a videoless, audioless dvd that I don't want to burn onto anything. Pretty standard stuff huh?
Well I know how to do it from DVD but from an AVI file is hard. You better go to a good subtitle site and download the ones you need (do a Google search).
