I want to be able to back-up all of my software that I have purchased over the years. The disks never last forever. I want to be able to protect my investment. Is there a way to rip, extract, copy some software that you have purchased. For example a HP printer disk, or a Windows 98 disk, they might be old and scratched. If anyone could help me with this I would really appreciated it. Thank you.
are they cd/dvd or floppy? and you can copy most software easily as most dont have copy protection. the cd key is usally the copy protection in a way. if they are cd/dvd then you would need some form of cd/dvd burn program possibly. i say possibly because you can copy files to disc with windows copy to folder option(which can copy files to cd/dvd). but you definitely need a cd or dvd burner to use either. if they are floppy then you could put them on cd/dvd or use diskcopy from windows or the windows command prompt(DOS). if you put them on cd/dvd you could put a bunch of software programs on one disc if they arent bootable discs that need their own disc.
Yes, they are on CD and yes, I have a CD\DVD DL Burner with Nero 6. But the copy protection laws on the disc will not let me copy the CD. I was wondering if there is a way to rip the disc like DVD Decrypter to get around the copy protection. I am just trying to protect my investment. My original discs are getting scratched and I want to be able to burn them when ever I need to. I really appreciate all your help on this and any feed back helps. Thanks
which programs are you having trouble with? i didnt know windows 98 had copy protection on it. have you tried to make an iso image with nero? then burn that image to a disc.
@WheezyE if there is no copy protection on windows 98 then what problems are you experiencing in copying the disc?
