Does anybody know how to shrink AVI video without changing its format? Like it still remains as AVI file after shrinking it?

    Hi,

Goto filepedia and in the search box type avi recomp. All it does is shrink the file it does not change the format.

    Ok, thanks alot! :D

BTW, does it not support avi files lower than 300mb? I mean I'm trying to compress my 170mb avi file to about 150mb. I couldn't see that opition in that program. Any idea?

    Hi,

The only other option I can think of is autogk http://www.autogk.me.uk/. 170mb is really small but you can try to set the target output manually (tutorial and program on link provided).

I tried the AVI recomp program and its so weird. I think that program is for someone who wants to put subbed titles into the movie. PLus, I really don't get how it works. It seperate into so many parts.

Anyway, I'll give autogk a try and let you know if it works.

I really don't get the audio thing. I mean I'm not shrinking a movie from a dvd file. It asks you to put an audio thing. When I didn't put any, it has no sounds. But I had no idea what audio file should I choose cuz at the first place, there's none.

ONe more thing. Is it neccessary to use VirtualDubMode if you just want to compress the file? Cuz it automatically shows up when I'm trying to compress the file.

    thanks

    Hi,

If you are using autogk then yes virtualdubmod is a part of the program. Avi recomp is a stumper but if you goto their homepage the tutorial there will help.
