how to update picture quality on any file???

    hi does anyone know how to update the quality and sound of my my Xvid Divx or any file. Or cant it be done? thanks to anyone who can help

    You can, but it's not REALLY upping the quality of the video/audio.

    Using Avisynth, you can do some really cool stuff like cropping, upscaling/downscaling, sharpening, blurring, etc.

    But there's no "real" upgrade in quality. Every time you alter your video, you'll only be DOWNgrading it or keeping it the same. You can't put more into the video when the video is all you have.

    Same with the audio. You can up the bitrate, which might result in you being able to see/hear a bit more of the fine detail, but again, you'll also notice the noise and the artifacts a bit more.

    ...at least that's my take on it. You can try the sharpening tool, and if it looks good to you, then run with it.

    avidemux also has a very good collection of filters, it's the program I use to edit avi's.
