Hello all, I have a rare situation. My brother manages a large retirement community on a lake in Florida. They have two club houses, a marina, their own volunteer fire department and their own TV channel of all things. I have not seen the station, but he says there are 2 dishes and a room full of electronics. He said there is a computer in the station and he has one in his office also. From what I am hearing they are old since he doesn’t even have a CD burner on them. So I would bet that the videocard and memory are not the greatest either. I don’t know how any of this works but he mentioned that it is text based channel to broadcast calendars of events, holiday greetings and so forth. He is trying to use PowerPoint to create his content so I would assume that he has to broadcast with the computer in the station. Can somebody lead me in the right direction here? I am not new to computers but I have not used PowerPoint. Is this the best way to go or would it be easier/possible to create using some other program? Maybe an HTML editor and Paint Shop Pro, Flash, NVU? If we create a video to insert in PowerPoint does it need to be a certain format or resolution and size? I guess I am really looking for some guide lines to follow and the easiest way. Maybe a site with a tutorial on PowerPoint? Thank you all

To insert a video file: On the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, click Movie from File, locate the folder that contains the file you want, and then double-click the file. Note A movie or .gif file that you've added to Clip Organizer is found in the Clip Organizer folder within the My Pictures folder on your hard disk. Or, go to the original location for these files. When a message is displayed, do one of the following: To play the movie or GIF automatically when you go to the slide, click Yes. To play the movie or GIF only when you click it, click No. if you cannot insert the video clip that way you should insert it through windows media player: In Windows, launch Windows Media Player (from the Start button, on the Accessories submenu). On the File menu in Windows Media Player, click Open, and then type the path or browse for the file you want to insert, and click OK. If the movie opens and plays, complete the remaining steps in this task. If the movie cannot play, then it won't play when you open the Windows Media Player in PowerPoint, so don't complete this task. You can consult Windows Media Player Help to try to troubleshoot the problem. Also, in PowerPoint, search on "Troubleshoot movies" in the Ask a Question box on the menu bar to get more suggestions. Display the slide you want the movie on in PowerPoint, and on the Insert menu, click Object. Under Object Type, click Media Clip, and make sure Create new is selected. If you want the movie to display as an icon, select the Display as icon check box. Click OK. On the Insert Clip menu in Windows Media Player, click Video for Windows. In the Files of type list, select All Files, select the file, and then click Open. To play it, click the Play button just below the menu bar, on the upper left; to insert it onto your slide, click outside the movie frame.
OK. I think that you want to convert a powerpoint presentation into a video file so it can be broadcast. If not, ignore my post. PowerPoint doesn't have a built in option to convert a presentation to video. But there are special software to do that. One of them is "Presentation to Video Converter" which costs around USD 200. I had to convert a PPS to AVI for one of my friends last week. But I didn't feel like spending a lot for a converter. So, I ran the presentation full screen and recorded it with my trusty screen recorder. The results were superb! If you already don't have a screen recorder, you can get FRAPS for about USD 40. Good day folks. Well I can say only that if you want see Presentation on TV the best way is converting it to video. I recommend presentation to video converter.Useful and easy.
By the way I tried fraps in the first time. Yeah it's cheaper. But actually I don't like it. Coz it has not enough opportunities for me. Also fraps has awful interface. Of course it in my opinion. There is information about presentation to video converter at geovid
