Hi ! I want to do some "codec-cleaning" on my machine. I need to find out if I have codecs that is not suppose to be there. I only need the right codecs and no duplicates, right ? I get this media types found in registry with GSpot 2.70a How am I suppose to read this list ? Is there any conflicts ? Me no nooothing ... If I have conflicts, do I suppose to do some editing in the registry itself or what ? How do I now wich codecs I shall have or not ? I feel sooo stupid :S
phmo, The log is all "Greek" to me. However, what you can do is use a tool like Video Inspector, and try to install only the codecs you need.
Ok pryme_H ! But is there some tool that I can find out if there is codecs that is in conflict with other codecs on my machine ? Or how do you guys go about the problem when you solve this things ? Is this problem maybe already solved, please link me to the thread, thanks ?!
My suggestion is to have a sole codec pack such as K-Lite Codec Pack Full. This compilation of numerous codecs virtually contain all codecs necesary to play, decode and encode various video files on your computer. The good thing about this freeware is that it avoids possible conflicts with the codecs that came in with your Windows OS.
I personally only use the ffdshow pack and it is the best pack there is. All the others are just to bloated for my taste. If you want video bitrate, codec and such use AVICodec.
