hp Compaq laptop -originally battery would not hold charge so i was happy to run it off mains- (seemed to be a dying battery ).Also during that time it would heat up terribly - but rarely switch off .Then gradually over time it started to switch off.So opened it up and there wasn't much dust it was rather clean but i still gave it some air duster blasts.Worked perfect - but only for day. Now , it is erratic it can keep running for long time and others switch off after few minutes -even though it is not hot- (although it has a at least 80% chance of switching off at some point)I tested power jack to see if that was faulty - but it switched off without any jiggling of lead Could it be heatsink or simply a faulty power supply adaptor ? Thxs
get into the bios to see if hardware monitor is there & if is then look at the cpu temp til it shuts off. might have to replace the old heatsink compound with new.
