i have a lil problem on my hands. i bought these Taiyo Yuden Silver Thermal 8x DVD-R disc, and my dvd writer didnt read them at ALL!!! I have a HP DVD writer 300c, and it said insert blank CD when i tried to burn something. I thought it was my DVD writer but when i insert a regular DVD it reads it, i put in a DVD+r9(not blank) and it read that, but i dont have any other blank DVD's so i really dont know if its the writer or not. i have some questions that was running through my head. 1. I dont know what speed my writer is,(dont really use it) does that effects if the DVD could be read or not??? 2. does my driver needs to be updated, or i have to buy another one because of this problem??? 3. The black disc i have are dvd-r, do you know if my writer can read dvd-r's??? i dont know if my writer is a DVD-r, DVD+r or both 4. does the writing type of the writer matters which CD you put in the writer(in other words, is it a big deal to put a blank dvd+r in a writer that reads DVD-R disc)???
Where did you buy those silver thermal -8x tys? Do they give you the Ty-G02 code? First: Lots of fake tys are out there, floating around. Look the the dye side of your tys for a code like: GG000123 or similar. It has to have 2 letters, followed by 6 digits. We need to verify that they are ligit. Second: Firmware version of your HP 300C writer. What is your current fw version. Device manager/nero infotool/dvdinfopro/dvdidentifier will tell you. Then look here for the latest version, and post back that info. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1673 Third: I believe your HP 300c can only burn plus format only. It'll read both, but only has writing capabilities to the plus media. I couldn't find much info on this drive. Fourth: Not much of a big deal on the different formats with these newer 16x drives, but a huge difference in the older/slower 4x and 8x writers like HP. Majority of those older drives are single format only. Try some quality plus media. But you may have to update that firmware for this newer 8x and 16x media.Try maxell/sony/verbatim in the plus format, with the 8x speed if you can. I gave you the link in case you have a problem burning something like Verbatim +16x. That old drive's current firmware version may not be programmed to handle the newer media.
