HP DVD-Writer 640b wont burn!

    I have a HP DVD-Writer 640b. Its been working perfect and everything.
    All of a sudden, it wont write, or burn, (etc.)
    It can read and even rip audio and everything except burn.
    What can i do?

    Go to hardware manager, and then uninstall your drive and secondary IDE controller. Then reboot and let windows install them again.

    See if that helps.

    What was the last thing you did withe the drive before it "suddenly stopped working?"

    if not a laptop drive than can you try the drive in another computer that has a burning program to see if it is a software issue with your burning program or a hardware issue with your burner?

    I last used the program "Regcure". That program even erased my configurations for activex to the point where i had to install the stand alone edition just to watch a video on youtube.

    If I could just get my hands on the necks of that developer!!!!

    try a system restore back before you ran that program.
