HP NC8430 issues

    My step son has this laptop that use to work fine but now its just not doing nothing. Everytime we turn it on nothing happens, the fan comes on, s.o does the hd and dvd drive but nothing else. Ive tried taking everything out and turning it on without an hardware but nothing. The mute button always stays on and wont turn off. I dont even get any beeps when it starts with or without hardware. Is the mb shot? Thanks for the help
