I just bought a Sony Dual Layer DVD Burner.

Lets use Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol.2 (when it comes out) as examples, on DVD.

Could I Shrink BOTH DVDs down to the 4+GB ratio and then burn them BOTH onto the same Dual Layer DVD? (DVD+R_DL can hold u pto 8.65 GB I believe) How would I modify the Menus so that they wouldn't conflict with each other but still give access to both DVDs? Is there a way to "partition" a Dual Layer DVD by putting in a Start-up menu that lets you choose which DVD section to use? One that could be recognized by the standalone DVD players?

In other words, when you first pop-in this DL DVD+R DVD into any DVD player, the first menu that would pop up is a custom one you make yourself that lets you choose which movie DVD you want to view - then you either go to the Shrunken "Kill Bill vol. 1" DVD features or the Shrunken "Vol 2." DVD features. Something like that. You know what I am talking about?

This is just a "wet-dream" I had about my Dual Layer DVD. lol

Is this possible? Or am I thinking WAY too far ahead for something like that?

I think it's probably a little early yet to answer this question.

I would use dual layer exactly the way you are thinking. In fact this is the ONLY way I would ever use it. It would eliminate the obvious postitioning of the layer change.

I am sure a software app will be released, rapidly, to achieve the results you are after.

Joining two main titles and creating a menu for them can be done with single layer discs already so I imagine it's only a matter of having software that supports DL burning to achieve your goal.

I was thinking the same thing for both Kill Bill's since they were originally intended to be one film :)
