Ok so i have a soft modded xbox and i was trying to free up some space on my e drive and i deleted the linux file because i thought it was just needed for installing it on my xbox. So now when i turn on my xbox ai cant get to the ms dash only the evo-x dash. so i have no acces to file manager or any of that stuff on my xbox. However i CAN ftp to my xbox and i do have acton replay but i dont know how to copy over the information from the memory card because i cant get to my saves file without the ms or original xbox dash. So is there any way i can just ftp some linux file to a folder on my xbox and then have the ms dash again because i really need it? Thanks for any help. (please only respond if you know what you'r talking about)
ok i did somethin similar to big red. except i dont have the evo x dash or the ms dash. and i cannot ftp into my xbox. is it preatty much dead or can it still be saved.
First off, I don't have an XBOX, and never have. But, I know about computers, and if you can open up your XBOX, take out the hard drive, and use it in a PC, it can be saved, just reformat it, or put the required software back on.
It's just as well you admit knowing nothing about the xbox, because that post proves it. The drive in the xbox is maximum security locked to the eeprom on the motherboard.. Now for the cure.. If you can still get a dash and FTP connection install a full new set of Microsoft dash files on the Cartition. The dash files weigh in at somewhere like 300MB, and are a fonts folder, an audio folder, an xboxbook.xtf, an xodash.xbe(maybe also xtf) and a default.xbe, or something like.. Haven't looked at one in ages. Once those are there delete everything on E: except a folder called tdata, and a folder called udata, those hold all your saves and soundtracks, and a cache folder.. That should give you a retail drive again. If you softmodded from a game exploit run the game and see if you still have the exploit save..if so load it and everything should be good. If not as you have a retail xbox again then just do the softmod the same way as last time. If the xbox isn't booting at all then it's a lot more work...first check to see if you can cold boot an original game... if you can find a recent live enabled one..disconnect any internet cable and go to the live settings.. If your dash files are faulty, or non existant it will run an update procedure whick will restore the dash to factory...then softmod again. If that doesn't work..and you never backed up your eeprom.bin file outside your xbox we have problems.. It will depend how far the xbox gets in the boot cycle.. unplug the dvd drive and see if it boots as far as a screen showing a 12.. If so post again and we will help by pointing you at the right guide to solve the problem.
Hi. Slight hijack here.... Anyway,I`ve softmodded both my X-Boxes using the SID4.5/Splinter Cell method.Everything works fine.But..... By reading various forums,I see that backing up the Eeprom is critical.Unfortunately,I don`t seem to be able to see where the actual file is.Common sense would say its in the "back up" folder on the XB`s E drive. As a precaution I`ve backed up the folders of both XB`s to my PC but I would just like someone to clarify what critical files I should back up. Also, using EvoX on my old XB causes FTP to be painfully slow.I`m talking like 25+ minutes to DELETE a messed up 255meg XBMC folder. What I wanted to do was totally wipe the soft mod and do it again using the UnleashX dash but I can`t get the option screen up to select the uninstall mod option. Others have said to just load Splinter Cell and run the Linux patch again but that just results in a frozen XB. Any ideas?
