I am receiving an error "either the drive or the disc is not ready" what do i do

    While preparing to burn an mpeg file onto a dvd disc, I encounter the error message "either the drive or the disc is not ready". However, I am giving it plenty of time to read and I don't know what else to do? Any Advice??

    What program are you using to burn with, what kind of burner do you have, and what kind of media do you have?

    You might try rebooting because sometimes processes will occupy the dvd burning drive and it will be inaccessible until you reboot. You can also check task manager as some programs will occupy the drive and you can sometimes close them with task manager.

    I am using numerous programs. Nero is one, and I have also tried Power Producer. My DVD burner is a 2x pioneer DVD R/RW drive. Does this help?
