1. No this isnt the right forum. This is for hardware discussions 2. -Teleport- 3. FarCry is gonna be a pain in the arse to backup. What drive & software are you currently using?
sorry for puting this in the wrong room but i have a sony dvd burner and i have been useing noro smartstart
I also am attempting to back up pc games and I noticed that the game backup forums seem to be only for console users. Please direct me to the correct forum. Thanks, <email removed>
1. No emails please 2. Ive moved your post to the correct forum 3. What is the model name/number for your Sony Drive? To determine your make and model of your optical drives; if you happen to have Nero Infotools installed, start it up and under the Drive tab, it will list all the relevant specifications and capabilities of your burner. The actual name of your burner is listed in the drop-down box at the top (those numbers before the name of your burner are important too!). You can get InfoTools from http://www.cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/nero_info_tool.cfm
sony DVD RW DRU-510A ist there a progam that u just use or shell i shut my mouth and see what u come up with
Hi, Successful backups of the newer protections are very hardware dependant meaning that your burner must be able to burn the image correctly. Unfortunately, very few DVD writers are capable of doing this and your Sony isn't one of them.
The only DVD/RW's I know of that can back up PC games are the Lite On 401/411/811 and the Plextor PX-708A, but even this is iffy concerning Far Cry which I understand is a bugger to do. A cheaper solution would be to pick up one of the CD/RWs listed in this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/83922
there should be a program that dose this it would make life easy its like a am haveing nightmears with avi files to vob mad mad mad thanks for the help i just have to keep nuting new games
LOL if it was easy, it would be no fun now would it? ;-) Seriously, consider the fine programs noted above (i.e., as opposed to something like Nero etc)
Your best bet is to go with the Plextor PX-708A for backing pc game protection on the dvd burner end. If you have a little extra cash then grab a Plextor Premium (52/32/52x) cd burner and if you can't afford that, then go with a Litey 52\32\52x or Litey 52\24\52x). My Litey 411S (dvd burner) can't defeat Safedisc 3.15 or SecuROM 4.87 (blah).
