I can watch the file with full sound and audio, but I can't extract the audio in virtualdub mod, it says I don't have the audio codec, but if I can hear it when I watch it in media player I must have it. In file information, the audio decompressor is listed as Unknown 0055, whats that?
Windows Media Player uses directshow filters, VirtualDub on the other hand uses ACM (for audio) and VfW (for video). That tag is for mp3 and windows comes with an ACM mp3 decoder. There was a problem where incomplete headers would cause that problem, but I am pretty sure that it was fixed years ago. So I guess your codecs got corrupted (codec packs?) or maybe it was never fixed in VDubMod?
I use media player classic, not windows one. So how do I fix it? can I put the codecs in with vdubmod somehow?
Even more so then since Media Player Classic is also dshow based, but includes its own mp3 decoder. The header problem could be fixed via Hex editing. A newer version of the Fraunhoffer (spelling?) ACM codec comes with newer media player builds I believe. Other option is to use something else to decode.
I don't really understand, what do I do exactly? I just want to know what I can do to get vdubmod to recognise the audio in a movie
