This is my problem... I've been trying to play some old DVD's I burnt with this same drive, but they won't play. I tried with all of my DVDs even tried with original ones and nothing... it kept telling me there were no DVDs in the drive. I decided to try and see if the DVD shrink would tell me if there was a DVD inside, and nothing. Also tried with DVD ripper and CloneDVD and DivX... nothing. I decided to play normal data CDs and music CDs and the drive read them properly, no problem (I was able to open and listen to them). Then I thought the lens could be dirty and decided to clean it with a Laser Lens Cleaner (for DVD, DVD-ROM, and DVD game players)... the drive read the cleaner without problems, I was able to open it properly. So, obviously I thought that was it and tried with my DVDs again... but the drive didn't read them... keeps telling me there is no DVD in the drive. I don't know what can be happening, what's wrong? If anyone can help me or give me a few ideas, please do. I'll thank you lots.

I tried playing all my DVDs and only 2 play... one original and the lense cleaner... maybe a security license or thing won't allow them to play? I was considering restoring my computer. Dunno if this makes any sense.

I had a similar problem until I updated my Burners Firmware. Also awhile back I used media that was too fast for my burner since I didn't update the firmware and I ended up burning my burners laser.I would try updating the firmware and see what happens.

Did you burn a movie with media that was too fast for your burner? Example, did you use 16X media and try to burn a movie without first updating your firmware? If this is the case it might be that your burner got fried.
