This is the file I downloaded...

    http://ts.searching.com/torrent/691963/MOTD2_9_4_6_Xvid_avi

It has 300 seeders and is known to work. I also downloaded a similar file a few weeks ago that didn't work and assumed that something was amis with the file.

I have downloaded the Xvid and DivX codecs which don't do anything. I have VLC player installed which still does nothing and have just recently installed the DivX total pack (after uninstalling the original DivX and Xvid codecs).

I have Gspot installed and run it in there which tells me that it is not a valid AVI file.

I simply do not understand what is going wrong. I am just lost. I have read through the sticky at the top of the page and still have not been able to come to any conclusions.

Also please note I am simply adequate relating to PCs - I don't understand the in-depth techniques involved in encoding etc. All I want to do is playback the file I downloaded and have no idea about what to do. If someone does provide the killer solution which works, I WILL pay them a few quid via paypal. I don't know if that's any incentive, but as well as this file, I have another I wish to view which my friend sent me and that does not work either.

    Thanks.

If GSpot says it isn't an avi, then it isn't an avi. That means either the uploader is lying or there is something up with your download, like say it isn't complete.
