I had posted a question about my hp 740b lightscribe dvd burner. I had just bought this hp desktop pavilion a1419h, about a week ago. I used my dvd burner just once to back up one of my dvd's. I used dvd decrypter to do it, two days ago I was going to backup another one of my movies, I was able to get it to the harddrive, but when I was going to burn it, it gave me a error warning about halfway then it stopped. Now when I put in blank dvd media it doesnt want to read it. It says device not ready, medium not present, when I tried to use nero it says that I dont have a disc in the drive. For some reason my drive only acknowledges cds only. I tried updating firmware, that didnt work. I tried uninstalling the drivers then reinstalling them and that didnt work. What should I do?
Should be under warranty - call or email customer service. Sounds like a bad burner. Does it recognize store bought pressed DVDs? If not, the laser is probably out.
It sounds like a firmware issue, but I would contact the seller and have them check it out since it is in warranty.
