Will a computer read a dvd-r but not a +R? I have a samsung writer. Is there anyway of proving that. It reads all my cdrs though. Whats the difference between a dvd-r and a +R?

The difference between a DVD-R and DVD+R is basically format (kind of like the old VHS / BETA thing). They are just competing formats. Typically a DVD R drive will only write (and I believe read) one of the formats (although I believe the new ones accept both). Check you box/manual to see if your drive is a DVD-R or a DVD+R and only use those.

PS: I found this out the hard way as well...
