I have a dell pc that needs a clean install of windows xp. The internal cd drive is fried so I have a external USB DVD drive connected. I need to know how to boot my xp install cd from this external cd drive. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance :)

I had a similar issue with having to reinstall windows xp. This was after I had to buy a new hard drive altogether. I didn't have an external CD drive. I did, however, have an external mass memory drive to be able to install the new hard drive. The problem I faced was that rebooting from this external drive caused windows to think it was the C: drive. This screwed a couple different things up. My point is to be prepared to deal with identity issues involving the boot drives.
