I think that everytime a person posts a message or posts anything on these forums it should say how many posts the person has made on these forums. It would help people kno what rating their up too like junior member, and member. Then they can kno how many more posts they need to become the next level. What do u think! I have seen it done on other forums. U can put how many the person did right under their name when they post a message.
It hasnt been a favourite with the boss that suggestion. I suggested it way back in June i think, and many have before me, but at the end of the day, it only encourages people to try to get their posts up and they may post complete crap like i do sometimes (but im usually drunnk at the time). Who knows, it may be a feature of 'the new afterdawn'. They should call this site 'morning, since thats whats afterdawn...lol. Get it After Dawn. Ha ha ha - im soo funny, though my guess is its wasted here :-(
im drunk right now, but i am still trying to contribute. I'd still would like to see how many answers ive posted, because most have been helpfull.
Having a countdown or up to the next Titular level would just encourage all the users to write loads of cr@p or repeat posting and reduce the whole effectiveness and use of the forums available, and anyway Oriphus would have to stop posting for an entire week for anyone to even catch up to a % of his posts
Hmmmm ok i guess. I was just making a suggestion because other message boards like street glow's have it and it keeps me updated on how many posts i have done. I dont kno... O well
lol - I honestly dont know what i have posted, but my guess is over 5,000 posts since May 2003. Who knows...we may never and on that note, we are all equals by user ID. :-D
perhaps; some of course are more equal than others 'AfterDawn Addict' seriously though where do you find the time, i was looking at posts lastnight and thought to myself 'this is doing my head in' and went to watch tv
I actually only post for about 1 hour or two everyday when in University or at home playing Americas Army online. Otherwise im at my girls or watchin/playing football. As soon as i see the specialist about my footballing injury next tuesday (Torn Ligament) and get back on the path of recovery - it will be football before afterdawn
This is my 3rd post ever but my music has been on Afterdawn for a few years. So I'm a newbie, even though one of my songs has been in the top 30 for two years now. There is never a perfect system. They all suck!
Usually that feature, a common one amoung forums, of counting posts serves to get a lot of bs answers as people try to drive up their post count. The count becoming more important than the content. What happens in the end is that you have to wade through a lot of crap to get to the content and that usually the thread deteriorates within a few posts to meaningless drivel.
Now there's a compromise -- my logging in and visiting "My Account" page you can check how many posts you've posted, but as it is not public data for everybody to see, it hopefully discourages stupid "I've got bigger post count than you have" competitions that only spark meaningless b.s. posts by users who try to achieve something by having a big number of posts. I think a hybrid of "slashdot method" and "google method" into forums would actually be interesting -- users could rate the post and the ratings would get more importance if people with high message ratings would rate your post. Considering that one...
Yep in my experience of message boards there are always the prats with the stupidly high post count who try and belittle those with a lesser post count and invariably talk shite. If its hidden we are all equal to an extent and wont get stupid one word replys to stuff.
*EDIT* I should try to read the thread fully before I try to post my bit of brilliance for the day _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Gigabyte 8INXP, Intel P4HT 3.06 Mushkin 1024 MB PC2100 Sapphire 9800 Pro Plextor PX-708A/Plextor Premium/LTD-166S M-Audio Revolution 7.1 "And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight."
