well useing Something else to Burn the VCD...Try VCDEasy....The Problem could be that Nero is adding extra Padding to the File which will increase it"s size....

i tried vcd easy and for some reseason its wacking an extra 100 meg on the size when using it making it well to big saying it needs padding or something plus vcd easy doesnt even detect my cd writer. I thnk i may have to put the mpeg onto2 disks just quickly wanna chack i know that for vcd u have to to have 352 288 res and 25fps and layer 2 audio 224 but can i play around with the bitrate to take full advantage of the disk cos im probably gonna put about 45 on each disk so wanna get as much quality as possible.ps(i cant use svcd dvd player dont play it) so could u please tell me the best tweeking optoins i can use for getting the best quality for a 90 min home video on two vcds im capturing form an anolog camera and when captured file is bout 30 gigs thanks alot all the help is greatly appreciated,

It shouldn"t need Padding if you Changed the header Properly...Did you use the "Simple Multiplex" or did you use the "Merge & Cut" to add the header?? and did you choose "Video-CD" from the Dropdown menu or did you choose "Video-CD Non-Standard"??? I find it best to use the "Merge & Cut" to add the VCD header and you have to choose the "Video-CD Non-Standard" setting from the Dropdown menu...If you didn"t use these settings try it, and when you are in the "Merge & Cut" see if you can cut a few minutes off the end of the Movie Like the End credits it might just lower the File size enough so you can burn it to CD-R if it has to add some padding...and I guess if all else fails you can encode the File to VCD....

Sory ,For some reason I was under the Impression that you were trying to Play a SVCD in a VCD only DVD Player...Now I understand what your Problem is...When you Cut and merged your Files you cut and merged them as Mpeg1 files Not VCD Mpeg1 files and that it why VCDEasy is adding all the extra Padding and why the Files seem bigger after loading them into the Burning Program...This can be easilly Fixed...Run Tmpgenc and go to "File" to "Mpeg Tools" to "Merge and Cut" and Load One of your Files into it, now set the Dropdown menu to "Video-CD Non-Standard" and give the Output file a different name as the input file and then click run...In a Few minutes you will Have a New File exactly like the one you loaded into the Merge and Cut But this File will Be Muxed as a VCD File and Not as a Mpeg1 file...Now when you Load this File into Nero or VCDeasy the File size should be seen correctly...What I would actually do is Use VCDEasy to add chapters and/or menu"s and Make a Bin/Cue file then Burn the Bin/Cue with Nero...Cheers
