ive been fixing computers for 4 years now and still im confused with FSB(front side bus) i have this FSB 1066mhz the asus p5vd2-mx and the spec i saw from there site was the memory needs to be DDR2-400 max is DDR2-533 so can i put 2gb DDR2 800mhz? Thank you and godbless u
but putting 2pcs of 1gb with a speed of 800mhz wont be detected only one of the ram will be read? ^_^ im still confuse with these Front Side Bus 1066/800/533 MHz Memory 2 x 240-pin DIMM sockets support max. 4GB DDR2 533/400 non-ECC unbuffered memory if you take a look max of the said speed of memory is 533? in the FSB is 1066/800/533 so will a 1pc 2gb ram with speed of 800mhz works? because of the FSB 800? thank you hehe
From what I can gather, I'd say no. The board seems to refer to 400mhz and 533mhz DDR2 as the full speed, after DDR (Double Data Rate) has been applied. i.e. what it means by 400mhz and 533mhz memory is memory that's actually 200 and 266, doubled to 533, Not memory that was 400mhz and 533, doubled to 800 and 1066 as is common with newer boards. Judging by the age and low specification of the board I'd say this is accurate. It would seem to be limited to PC3200 (400Mhz) and PC4200 (533Mhz). You could try putting faster memory in, but I have no idea if it would work or not.
ok ill try to convince my mom to buy that 800mhz if its going to work hehe ^_^ here in the philippines they dont have complete freqeuncy speeds they only have the latest ones haha ^_^ they kinda skips on other one like if they have newer boards they'll skip those other frequency speed hehe ^_^ it sucks haha ^_^ Thank you for you guide sir sammorris
