hi guys all right the title pretty much sums it up for you. i have a digital camcorder and i am trying to make dvds from it. i have the firewire thing and i got software such as roxio, widows movie maker, etc. i tried using roxio because it seemed most promising. anyway i had an option of choosing between DV format and MPEG-1 format. the DV format takes a HUGE chunk of space from my hard drive. the MPEG-1 is much better in space and i can live with its quality but it is still too much. i have approximately 6-9 hours to put on DVD. and once you are done putting it on the computer without taking up all my space. how the hell do you burn it to DVD when its in MPEG format. as i mentioned i dont know what i am doing. i am new to this stuff because my family told me to clear out all the mini tapes and put them on dvds since i dont want to spend money on new tapes. if you can help me thank you very much. this site has come through for me before.
You clearly don't know what you're doing. You posted in the wrong forum. This is a Linux forum and lucky for you it caught my eye. If you want to record those videos to DVD and be able to watch them on a regular DVD player, you have to use either MPEG-1 or MPEG-2. Ohter compressed formats won't let you do it unless it's Divx and you buy a DVD player that can handle that format.
yo creaky thanks a bunch man i think i may have accidentaly clicked on the wrong forum anyway do you think you can help me with my problems i cant use MPEG-2 because i only got 90 gigs left and i am gonna use it all up for this thing. do you know what the best thing to do is. i got about 7 hrs worth of tapes to put on DVD thanks man
With 90 Gigs of space it shouldn't be a problem. Just work with 2 hours at a time. You can fit 2 hours easyly in your Hard Drive and in a DVD. I just don't understand what your problem is.
From the looks of it, you want the easiest way. The Easiest way for you would be to get a dvd recorder standalone and just make dubs using that.
Your Roxio software pack should have a "DVD BUILDER" program bundled, check that out and you'll be on your way.
hey guys this is completely off topic but i didnt want to open another thread. i thought why waste space. anyway my problem is i seem to have lost my password for my router. you know when you put some weird number combination in the address bar and it asks for username and password. so how do i find my password is there someone i can call? thanks
Kinda backward way of doing this but it will work. Find and click your router on this page: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm then, on the next page select some program, say utorrent, and it will tell you how to access your router.
