I've been hearing everyone say "DS is better than the PSP!" but so far I don't see how at ALL. I have no clue what this thing can do. Is there any mods or anything I can play with?

    well, congrats on your ds.

well unlike the psp, you do not need to downgrade the firmware and such. you just buy a flashcard and maybe a micro-sd, depending on which flashcard you get. that will let you play roms, multimedia stuff, and so on. there are also some emulators that work with the nds, look around the forum for info if you are interested.

Here, that is one of the best flashcards, compatibility is excellent and it's one of the cheapest.

You'll also need a MicroSD card, the link I gave you is a bundle with one of the best.

It's a games console. It plays games. What do you want to do? The R4 in the previous link makes the thing an MP3 and movie player.

I assume somebody has turned one into a VOIP telephone (shouldn't be hard) but I haven't seen it yet.

    It does stuff.

Lol. I know what it IS but what can it do, homebrew/hackable wise?

you can throw in some stuff and homebrew into the r4 to let it do things, like msn, aim, chatting stuff on wifi. like it was said before, VOIP, kind of like talking on a phone (i think youll need special headphones for that, not expensive).typical rom playings and such.

if you have specific things your trying to make it do, ask or try googling it.

There are emulators for it too, but as you have a PSP you probably don't want 'em. :p

    Lol, yeah. PSP's FW is 3.71 M33-2 so I won't.

@dragnandy: Ahh, ok. Thanks! Can I play NDS roms with the R4 as well?

    yep, sure can.

oh just fyi: r4 and the m3 simply are identical. they only go up to 2gb with the micro-sd card. and the m3 real can go up to 4gb (SDHC compatible). for future reference, r4 and m3 simply CANNOT use 4gb micro-sd cards. well, just not SDHC, but all 4gb are so yeah.

another choice is G6, which works the same as r4 and m3 simply/real, but it has built in memory, so you do not need to buy any additional memory card thing. i believe the G6 goes up to 16gBIT (2gb). im pretty sure its 16gbit

yes, r4 works with ds lite. everything the ds can play, the lite can play. but not everything the lite can play, the ds game ( the gba cartridges are sometimes different sizes)
